PERSONALITY:
Kol is the equivalent of a spoiled child, at least on the outside and to anyone who
doesn't bother to look much farther. To anyone who skims the surface he lashes
out when he doesn't get his way, he's self-absorbed and violent. To anyone who
does bother to look a bit deeper he has an emotional void that he tries to fill with all
of that anger and bloodshed. A deep need to be accepted and loved by his siblings.
Don't get us wrong, he's quite immature and enjoys looking his best at all times, which
who wouldn't if they were as handsome as he? Still, he tends to naturally be a
a relatively good-natured person, just one with a very short temper. He loves his family
but his love is deep-seeded and rooted in earning their approval ( though he would
never in a hundred thousand years tell him that) which doesn't always come through.
Lately, he's felt more anger towards his siblings at all that they've taken from him.
Kol Mikaelson isn't one to let revenge go and there are quite a few people on his list.

HISTORY:
Kol is one of the original vampires, his family having a long and complicated history
in both Mystic Falls and New Orleans. Kol has always had a bit of a love/hate
relationship with his family. He loves them dearly of course but has always felt like that
love wasn't always returned wholly. That tension has caused him to lash out, become
violent to the point of it being a risk for them and therefore the love that they might have
shown usually turned to an annoyance.
The family bounced around a lot, evading their father at every turn. It was in New Orleans
though, around the 1900s when Kol's history became a bit shorter. He had grown tired
of his brother destroying everything he loved including the city that had become his home
again. He loved everything about the Creole town...the food, the music, the laughter, the
history and the people. Oh the people were his favorite. He had a group of witches who
he had loved more than his family. One in particular who had come close to changing
that closed up heart of his into something more, something better. She had helped him
hatch a plan along with the other witches to get rid of Niklaus but in the end he was
betrayed by his sister.
The last few moments before getting daggered by his own blood was watching the girl
he had began to love die at the hands of his family. His body had begun to desicate
and his heart closed off right along with it.
He had woken up, if one could call "awake" being pulled out of the limbo-like state
of death your own siblings put you in then yes...he woke up...in Mystic Falls. He wasn't
thrilled of course but he knew better than to voice those feelings and get put back in
a coffin for another few decades. He had played nice with his siblings and continued on
that was until Elena Gilbert hatched a secret plan to have him die at the hands of her
brother and there again Kol took his last breaths at the hands of people who betrayed him.
Life went on, not Kol's of course but the years went by and Kol was in the in-between, the
purgatory, the just-barely-able to squeak by and pass through the veil once it was pierceable.
Kol found his way out a month ago and has spent that time lying low, trying to figure out
why he was able to come through while others couldn't. Kol tried to find information on the
girl who he lost all those years ago, but nothing came up. Now he continues on, trying
to live his unhappy and frustrating life.
