Caroline Forbes is in some ways vastly different from the human self she once was and yet in other ways quite the same. As a human she was insecure, petty and shallow. She rarely appreciated anything and viewed achievements ( such as being captain of the cheerleading team and winning Miss Mystic Falls thank-you-very-much) as the only way to win at life. Caroline had a confident exterior and a fighting determination. As a whole she was deeply flawed. When she was turned into a vampire her nature finally seemed to fit her. Where she was petty and shallow before she began to value life more. She has a certain appreciation of her situation and the possibilities that are at her fingertips. She also became a more loyal person and fiercely devoted to her friends and family. She would go to the ends of the earth for those she loves. Her determination in fact proved to be quite useful after her transformation as she shows remarkable self-control on a regular basis, even despite being a newly created vampire. She is more friendly and forgiving. She's harder to make angry than she was before and tends to have a more level-headed approach to things than she once did unless it has something to do with her family or friends. Caroline is unusually strong for being such a newly created vampire and will not hesitate a second to do what needs to be done. She still is quite competitive at times and still has trouble being a bit insecure when it comes to matters of the heart but overall feels very much the confident girl inside that she projects on the outside. She's slightly more of an optimist than she was though no one could say she wasn't one before, now she just tends to have more determination to force things to go the optimistic way she was hoping.

HISTORY:
Caroline was born on October 10, 1992, to Bill and Elizabeth Forbes in Mystic Falls, Virginia. During her childhood Caroline befriended Elena Gilbert and Bonnie Bennett. The girls remained extremely close all throughout childhood and into high school. Caroline was perfectly happy in her "Queen Bee" ruling of the high school. Her parents had separated and her father had came out. Human at the time Caroline was quite petty about the ordeal, taking her anger out by regularly lashing out at her mother. When the Salvatore brothers showed up to the scene she had been again dissapointed and insecure that Stefan hadn't "chosen" her, but it was soon after that Damon arrived into town and compelled her into whatever his amusement seemed fit at the time. Stefan had given her vervain and Damon's games had ended before he killed her. Caroline had then dated Matt Donovan who revealed he still had feelings for Elena which of course caused her to harbor even more insecurity. She and Matt broke up and it wasn't too long after that Caroline was in a car wreck. The injuries were quite bad and with the encouragement of her friends Damon gave her his blood to heal. She recovered miraculously of course and that would have been the end of the ordeal had Katherine Pierce not smothered her with a pillow.
Caroline woke up in transition alone and completely terrified. She drank from a blood bag and then from a nurse. Stumbling through her first hours as a vampire at random and adapting as she went. She had tried to pretend things were ok but ended up killing an innocent human her first night. Bonnie had made her the daylight ring she still currently wears and after that first rough night of her transition she has adapted well to being a vampire showing exceptional ability in restraint. Caroline graduated Mystic Falls High School where she was the captain of the cheerleading squad, honor student, head of the dance committees, Mystic Falls beautification committee, head of the recycling program, "Go Green" campaign, Miss Mystic Falls, and one of the most popular girls in the school.
She was easily accepted into Whitmore College where she currently attends.

Caroline possesses all the standard powers and abilities of a non-original vampire. However, at her first day as vampire, while she was still a new-born, Caroline managed to compel one of her nurses to do her bidding, a thing that is very rare among new vampires, as Mind Compulsion is an ability a new vampire needs to be taught (either by an older vampire, or with time). Caroline also managed to use Dream Manipulation, a high form of Telepathy (a skill that usually requires practice and learning to achieve) on the first try, while she was less than five years old as a vampire. Over time, though considerably short when compared to other vampires, Caroline's skill over mind compulsion has drastically increased. After Lexi Branson, she is the only other vampire shown to cast realistic illusions on individual people (the only exception to this is Silas, who as an Immortal possessed far superior psychic capabilities). When she turned off her humanity, she was capable of tricking the mind of a person into believing that he could not breathe then subjecting visions of spiders crawling all over his body, which led to a heart attack, then death.
Caroline is also a really skilled fighter. As a young vampire, Caroline showcased tactical strength when fighting the Tomb Vampires, all of whom were at least 150+ years older than her at that time. She's also managed to hold on her own against much older vampires such as Damon Salvatore, and Lorenzo. She also has been seen running at extraordinary speed, being able to outrun even werewolves on the Full Moon; she has also been shown to defeat a werewolf in human form with much ease. Caroline is also a very skilled deceiver: she succeeds in tricking even Niklaus Mikaelson, Rebekah Mikaelson, Katerina Petrova and the Heretics, vampires centuries older than she is. And unlike the vampires on both shows, Caroline can also use a gun - which most vampires are rarely seen doing.
