HISTORY:
[ MILAN ]
The son of Catholic parents, Milan was offered into the religious life since he was a baby. At first, when he was growing up, Milan loved his religion, his parents, his God. He was a choir boy, he went to church camp, he was pretty much a little angel from the get go. With his beautiful smile and his damn near perfect face, no one could fault him - he was the epitome of the golden child.
That changed when he was in high school. Jeered at by his classmates for his strictly religious upbringing, and "tempted" by the many pretty girls who all but threw themselves at him, Milan lost his way. He went from having perfect attendance, a sunny disposition, volunteering for religious events, to rebelling against his parents and their beliefs.
It was Milan's near-death experience that changed everything. Drunk, high on drugs, he and a few of his friends decided it would be the best time to go for a midnight swim in the ocean. Caught by a rip, panicking, and weak, Milan was tossed about under the water as he fought to rise for air. He realised that he was about to die, but still, he fought to live. It was only a complete miracle that he survived.
Turns out, it wasn't completely a miracle. He was saved by an Angel.
[ BARAKIEL ]
Barakiel isn't the brightest crayon in the Heaven box. He's purely a warrior, nothing more nothing less. He follows orders, he's emotionless, and he tries to be good in every situation. He can be a bit naive in the sense that he's easily led to believe things, easy to persuade, easy to sway. Barakiel likes to believe the best in people but will easily believe the worst if people tell him so.
So when Barakiel overheard a couple of angels whispering about never having seen God, it planted a thought in his mind that never left. No one had ever seen God - not even Barakiel, and he wasn't exactly just a foot soldier in the army. His direct superiors were the Archangels, he had legions of lesser angels under his command, and yet even he, Barakiel, had never seen God.
He went everywhere looking in Heaven, but he couldn't find God anywhere. The next thing he figured was, because God liked humans so much (so much more than Angels, actually), God was probably on Earth somewhere. So of course what was Barakiel to do but make his way down.
It was pure chance that he came across a drowning Milan. Barakiel knew he had to save Milan, of course he had to. Milan was a human, Barakiel was an Angel - it was practically in Barakiel's job description. And when he did, he turned to Milan back on to the religious path. So much so, in fact, that as Milan lay in the hospital bed, weak and helpless, he asked for help from Barakiel.
Barakiel needed a vessel, Milan needed life. It was easy an easy solution.
[ TOGETHER ]
Milan is still there, but it's weird. He doesn't feel trapped, he doesn't feel too resentful against Barakiel. After all, Barakiel took his broken body and fixed it again. Milan even helps Barakiel 'fit in' with the human world so he doesn't stand out. Milan understand Barakiel, really. Barakiel isn't rebelling, but he's not exactly where he should be, either. Milan knows what it's like to not be doing what he's supposed to be doing.
What with Barakiel travelling and experiencing, Milan enjoys all these new things, new places. Milan does wish Barakiel could lighten up a bit more, but they work pretty okay together in Milan's body. Milan helps with the human things, Barakiel keeps them alive. Together, they've avoided being seen for anything more than just a young human male exploring life.
There are whispers of supernatural activity near Mystic Falls, Virginia. Kiel is hoping someone has heard or seen something that may point in the direction of God, because Kiel has come no closer to finding anything about the man upstairs who's not upstairs anymore.
