It was quite the beautiful day out - the sun was shining with a slight nip in the air, enough for Gemma to pull on some very warm and fashionable boots and an over-sized chunky knit sweater and a cute beanie with one of those fluffy baubles on top. She wasn't an idiot, she knew how to work human fashion to her advantage. She also knew that she had one of the pretty faces around town, attracting no little attention to herself, and by golly she loved it.
It didn't hurt that she lived up the hype; she went to all the parties, knew all the people, worked her charm on everyone and everything. It could prove quite useful later on, after all, and Gemma wasn't above taking advantage of people. She was a demon, it was practically in her job description. Manipulate, lie, steal, cheat, kill, yada yada.
But there would be none of that right now. For now, her long, tights-covered legs were stretched out in front of her as she relaxed on a stone bench, letting the sun soak through her pores and enjoying a few minutes of peace.
There had been whispers in town - whispers that Gemma was not very keen on hearing. Sure, a vast majority of humans believed in angels and they would probably talk about angels quite openly, but Gemma couldn't help shaking off a weird feeling like they might be telling the truth. And come on, there was no way... right? A freaking angel, in run-of-the-mill Mystic Falls? No.
Gemma had other things to worry about, anyway. There would be a party tonight at the house of a university student returned for the holidays, and she'd heard from her 'friends' that it was the it place to be tonight. And perhaps something about how his ex and her new lover would be at the party and oooh it made Gemma's pretty little toes curl in delight at the prospective drama.
Life was pretty simple for the little hellion, and she just loved it.

Asa loved nature. There was something magical in the way human processed their world. It was one thing for him to see mountains raised from the sea but another to feel the crunch of a leaf on a brisk morning where the air felt like needles in his lungs and the sky shined warmly against his shoulders. Maybe he mused that was the reason why things seemed more here. On Earth he could truly feel and experience all of these things that in Heaven he simply did. There was nothing to feel up there, but here below there were more emotions than he could have dreamed. Asa had wandered around the outskirts of town in the early morning. He liked it when the dew was freshly strewn among the flowers and grass. It was almost as if it was being purified, made new for the breaking of dawn. He found it humbling the way the light broke across the sky and lit up the world around him slowly. It was odd that in nature with all of these foreign feelings would make him feel the closest to Heaven that he had felt since arriving. He had eventually made his way to the woods nearby town and had decided to rest a moment. He didn't need to sleep or rest of course, but the idea of it sounded nice. He had leaned back with his head against a tree. Closing his eyes he could hear the soft and persisitent squeaking of two squirrels, could hear the light and melodious chatter of birds. He also could hear footsteps. His angel side tingled a bit, sending up silent alarms for him to turn around, face whatever new and possible danger was coming but he ignored it. He instead let his human nature take over, the nature that felt a kinship and comeradie towards a fellow being walking this planet, a fellow nature lover even. He waited until the person was near him before sitting up a bit and turning to greet the stranger. " Hello there." He spoke, not too loudly to disturb the animals but loud enough to anounce his presence.

She was just starting to get comfortable on her chosen stone bench when a head popped up and a voice spoke and the little blonde demon almost toppled right off. Gemma wasn't used to being taken by surprise, and usually she had pretty good radar when it came to other people or things in her vicinity - she must have been too preoccupied with her musings about the university returnee and ensuing drama that she just hadn't noticed this new human.
He looked human enough, a little bit less rumpled than she would have thought for someone of his specie out and about at this time in the morning. Then again, Gemma did hear tell of people who couldn't sleep at night, or those who woke up early - humans were a weird bunch.
No, she was just being paranoid. She just had angels on her mind; this one couldn't be, or he'd see her true face from about a mile away and smite her down as soon as he saw her. That tingly feeling of not noticing him was just... conjecture. Just being suspicious, that was all. She'd believed those damned rumours far more than she would admit.
Now that she'd told herself to get over those idiotic thought, Gemma couldn't help but notice that this new human was particularly good looking. She vaguely remembered seeing him around... and possibly with another girl? At that vague reminder, a little bit of her adventurous evil poked at her, enticing a smile on to her face and a sparkle in her eyes.
"Hello yourself," Gemma replied, a little bit of a distinct purr to her voice. It made her sound just the right amount of 'just woke up' and 'sexy', usually a winning combination. Then again, she used that voice in nightclubs - who knew what effect it would have at a morning in the middle of the woods with birds chirping and everything.
Helping herself up and settling herself once again on to her stone bench, this time facing him with her long legs stretched tantalizingly in front of her, she smiled coyly at her newfound possible 'friend'. "What's someone like you doing out here at this time of the morning?"

Asa had spoken and the poor girl who he had startled had about fallen off of the stone bench that had been nearby. He made a mental note to work on being less stealthy. Humans were anything but quiet. The way they ate, spoke, walked, sometimes even the way they simply breathed was loud and boisterous. It was as if they were constantly claiming their space and right on this planet. " Oh, I'm terribly sorry I did not mean to startle you." She was quite pretty although she had an edge to her look. He had always marveled how Humans tended to wear what they were feeling. He supposed they thought they were being clever and unique but that was also common in the animal world as well, long before humans entered the picture. When she gave him a somewhat odd greeting back he almost wished he had Lily here. Humans were much harder to communicate with than he had previously thought. She had sat up and asked him why he was in the forest and he shrugged " I'm a bit of a nature lover I suppose. How about yourself?" He was genuinely curious about her answer. She didn't seem like the hiking, bird-watching type but he supposed judgments probably weren't his strong suit at the moment. He got up and lightly brushed himself off, walking over to her so that they could talk a bit easier. He was sure not to come too close so that she might be afraid but near enough to be friendly, or at least that had been his intent. The sun was beginning to filter light from the trees, a ray gently caressing the girl's skin. He wondered if she even noticed, if her human side would ever notice half of the beautiful things that lay around her. Tilting his head slightly to the side he spoke again " Don't you find it dangerous to be out so early alone?". He could recall statistic after statistic about violence against women who were out alone so it seemed a bit dangerous she would be wandering the woods by herself. Humans were violent. Sure he and his brothers could level Hell and Earth in a battle but nothing compared to the bloodsport that was human nature.
